Andreas Alm: “I’m never afraid of my job”

Andreas Alm is under pressure in Danish Odense BK. The Swedish coach speaks out about the situation.

Odense BK has taken eight points after eight rounds. The team is in ninth place in the Danish top league.

On Monday there was a loss at home against Silkeborg IF with 0-3. Fyens Stiftstidende wrote that parts of the fans demanded that coach Andreas Alm be fired.

However, Björn Wesström, who is football director at Odense, played down that Alm is hanging loose.

Now the Swedish coach speaks about the pressured situation in Odense.

– What does the threat of dismissal mean? Should I value it as a percentage? I’m never afraid of my job. I’ve also tried not to make it a theme. My job is to work with the group and lead us forward, says Alm to Ekstra Bladet.

“I don’t have to spend time on what people think. Last season’s experts thought it should be over and I should be fired, but I wasn’t.”

Alm does not want to say that Odense is in crisis.

“I think a crisis is hard to define. Because it is in the person who asks what he thinks is a crisis. We were asked the same question last season in a similar situation where we started without many points, he says and elaborates:

I am super happy with the support we have received. For me, negative criticism is also a way to support the team.

– What is criticism? That people are disappointed that we lost the last game? Because that’s how it should be. We also have to get used to people expecting us to play well when they come to the stadium. I’d rather see great passion than people not caring. I think it’s good that people have a great passion, like our supporters. I am super happy with the support we have received. For me, negative criticism is also a way to support the team.

The 50-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2025.
